Singing Lessons Relieve Stress

Singing lessons bring about an entirely new way of producing sound! This has been shown to help relieve both stress and anxiety. It can also strengthen the emotions of trusting and bonding, which can strengthen confidence and lesson the emotions of loneliness and depression. Studies show that those who take singing lessons have lower levels of cortisol than those who do not. Cortisol is known as the “stress hormone”, and doing what you can to lower it is always a positive thing! Singing also increases endorphins. As we know from the movies, “endorphins make you happy”! This happiness appears as a rush of hormones as you are in your singing lessons. You should always be able to leave your time of vocal learning happier than when you came! In a recent study, it shows that during group singing lessons, your heartbeats even sync up! This creates the same feeling as going to your favorite musician’s concert; the feeling of being part of something that is bigger than yourself. When you come to learn week after week, you are given the opportunity to relive that rush, to embrace that magical feeling, and to learn all that you can while discovering a living breathing instrument inside of you! To have something to do that you absolutely love is a beautiful thing. To have what you love also be something that increases happy emotions physically and psychologically is priceless! There is nothing more amazing than finding out what your instrument is truly capable of.
