3 Reasons to Start Your Year with Singing

Fox Music

There’s something about a new year that makes us want to set goals, make changes, or try new things. Maybe you’ve been thinking about finding ways to get into (or get back to) singing. Now is a great time to make it happen!

Here are a few reasons to start your year with singing:

1. Learn something new.

If singing is a skill that you’ve always wanted to learn, now is as good of a time as any to get started. The process of learning something new is great for your brain. By taking voice lessons, you’ll get the guidance and support to learn this skill while developing self-confidence and discipline. And if you’re nervous about getting started, you’re not alone! Most often, the most challenging step in learning something new is the first one.

2. Do something fun.

Another reason to start your year with singing is to do something fun. Now is a time that many people focus on fixing bad habits, so they set resolutions around unwanted behaviors. And while finding ways to improve your life is a noble pursuit, it doesn’t have to be your only focus. Finding ways to do more things that you enjoy can also enhance the quality of your life. Now is a great time to pay more attention to something that you enjoy – like singing.

3. Meet new people.

It can be challenging to meet new people and develop new friendships. Picking up an activity like singing creates an opportunity for you to meet new people outside of work or your other social circles. You’ll likely find that you have a lot in common with your fellow musicians. And you’ll become a member of a supportive community where you can grow as an individual.
