Our summer music camps in Virginia Beach are for students who are new to the piano. The huge advantage that students get from taking our camps is learning to read music in an immersion-based environment. Learning to read music for the first time is a language learning task, and it is common knowledge that the easiest way to learn a language is immersion. Fox Music has a tradition of going above-and-beyond all expectations in our summer camp program. We combine laughter with learning and we consistently achieve unbelievable results!


This piano lesson camp is designed for children who are new to the piano, however, students are able to progress at their own pace so beginner and intermediate piano students are also welcome.


All camps this year will take place at Fox Music’s Virginia Beach studio located at 1115 Independence Blvd.

Throughout this transformative week of summer camp, children will speed through an entire unit of piano study in just 5 days that typically takes 12 weeks to complete in normal piano lessons. We promise an engaging and interactive environment where your child will not only gain piano skills and an understanding of music theory, but also new friends and a boost of confidence and self-esteem.

  • What ages are your summer music camps for?

    Our piano summer camps are designed for elementary and middle school students, typically ages 6 - 12. Activities are structured so students can learn together in a fun group environment while still receiving guidance from the teacher.

  • What level piano student is this summer camp designed for?

    Our piano summer camps are designed for both beginner and intermediate piano students. No prior piano experience is required, so students who are brand new to piano are welcome. At the same time, students who already take piano lessons will still be challenged with activities that help them improve their music reading, rhythm, and playing skills.


    We structure our teaching so that each student can work at a level that is appropriate for them. Beginners will focus on foundational skills like reading notes, understanding rhythm, and playing simple songs, while intermediate students will work on expanding their technique, musical understanding, and repertoire.Because activities are taught in a small group setting, our teachers can guide students individually while still creating a fun, collaborative environment. This makes the camp a great fit for students who want to try piano for the first time as well as those who already take piano lessons in Chesapeake or Virginia Beach.

  • Do students need to have a piano at home to attend the camp?

    No, students do not need to own a piano to attend our piano summer camp. Many campers join to see if they enjoy learning piano before committing to lessons or purchasing an instrument.


    During camp, students will have access to keyboards and pianos in the classroom so they can participate fully in all activities. If your child decides they love playing piano and want to continue learning, our teachers are happy to give guidance on affordable keyboard and piano options for new students.Our goal is to make it easy for students to explore piano in a fun environment while building confidence, learning to read music, and discovering a lifelong love of music.

  • What will students learn in summer camp?

    Students will learn the foundations of playing piano in a fun, hands-on environment. Campers will practice skills such as reading music, understanding rhythm and counting, music theory concepts, and more.


    Our piano camp blends traditional teaching with interactive activities and technology, making it a great way for kids to experience music in an exciting and memorable way.

  • Is this piano summer camp good for beginners?

    Yes! Our piano summer camp is beginner friendly and does not require prior piano experience. Many students attend camp as their first introduction to music lessons.


    Students who already take piano lessons will still benefit from the camp by reinforcing their reading skills, improving rhythm, and learning new songs appropriate for their skill level.

  • What makes your summer camp different?

    Our piano camps combine proven teaching methods with modern technology and game-based learning to make music education engaging and effective.   • What should students bring to camp?

    Every voice can improve with proper training. You won’t know how good you can get unless you try it. Many students have started voice lessons very dissatisfied with their singing abilities and discovered wonderful voices hiding inside.

  • Will each camper have their own piano?

    Yes. We have enough pianos and keyboards in our classrooms for every camper to have their own instrument during our piano summer camp.This allows students to stay actively engaged the entire time rather than waiting for turns. Each camper can practice the concepts being taught right away. Our goal is to make sure every camper gets plenty of hands on playing time while enjoying a fun and encouraging introduction to music.
