3 Things to Do For Your Voice This Year

Fox Music

Happy New Year! It’s that time of year where people review what they accomplished over the past year and make plans for new goals in the coming months.

Most of these goals tend to include things like losing weight, getting fit, and improving habits. But what about your voice? How will you take your singing to the next level this year?

Here are three things you can do for your voice this year:

1. Create a practice schedule.

One of your goals for this year might be something like “practice more.” While this is a relevant goal for improving your vocal skills, the problem is that it’s vague. What does “practice more” mean to you?

Make this goal more specific by creating a practice schedule that’s realistic and manageable, given your work, family, and life commitments. Plan out when, where, and how long you’ll practice each week. Then, outline how you’ll spend each practice session. Be specific and include time for a warm-up, skill work, and focused vocal training that aligns with your singing goals.

2. Try something new.

Whether you have many years of vocal training or you’re just getting started, there is always something new you can try with your training. Taking on something new is a great way to challenge yourself in the new year. Perhaps this is the year that you go to an audition or perform in front of other people. Or maybe you try a new genre of music.

The way you choose to challenge yourself is entirely up to you. Don’t choose something because it’s what other people tend to set goals around. Keep it relevant to you, your goals, and your vocal interests. Try to find a challenge that’s also fun and will push you to a new level.

3. Take singing lessons.

There are so many benefits of working with a vocal coach . When you work with a singing teacher, you have someone who will take an individualized approach to your vocal training. If you have specific questions about your training, then you have a knowledgeable and experienced resource to guide you. At the same time, singing lessons hold you accountable for your practice and help you stay committed to your training.

Whether you’re a beginner or a professional singer, the experienced voice teachers at Fox Music will coach you in your vocal development. We provide singing lessons for all ages, including kids (age seven and older), teens, and adults.
